Investment Returns

An investment portfolio typically consists of various investments such as stocks, funds, real estate, government bonds, gold, etc. This calculator allows you to calculate the return on an investment portfolio by comparing the invested capital to the returns. Return-reducing expenses such as commissions and other charges must be deducted. The calculator then calculates the average return across all investments.

Instructions for the Investment Portfolio Calculator

The Investment Portfolio Calculator is for investors who have diverse investments with varying maturities and want to know the profitability of their investments. You need to enter the investments (deposits) and the withdrawals (sales, charges, commissions) at different dates, as well as the final balance (investment amount including returns or the value of the investments at the time of calculation). The calculator then calculates the average return across all investments.

This allows you to calculate the return on different types of investments such as stocks, funds, real estate, gold, etc.

Transaction Input Table: Enter the date of the transaction (investment, stock purchase, gold purchase, etc.) and the corresponding amount. Withdrawals (sales) are entered as negative values, deposits (investments, purchases, etc.) as positive values.

Day Calculation/Capitalization Option: Click on the 'Day Calculation/Capitalization' tab. Specify whether the year should be calculated as 360 days or according to the calendar, and whether the day calculation should be based on the calendar or 30 days per month.

Capitalization (When should interest be added to the principal (investment amount): Specify that the capitalization of the investment should occur monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, or at the end of the term.

Principal (Investment Amount) Including Interest: Enter the capitalized investment amount, including interest, at the calculation date.

Closing Date: Enter the closing date. If no date is entered, the date of the last transaction will be used.

Calculate: Click Calculate to perform a profitability analysis of the investment portfolio.

Calculated Interest Rate (Profitability): After the calculation, the interest rate is written to this field.

The 'Investment - Portfolio' Table: The interest calculation for the investment portfolio is displayed.
